Mel Carter and Brian Davis took on the best of the world at Gateshead. Mel finished in a time of 3:32:07 (which corresponds to an age-graded time of 3:04:14) and came 40th out of a field of 73 V55s. That was despite suffering from extreme cramp at 20 miles. Brian ran 3:09:34 (2:55:46 age-graded) and came 32nd out of 74 V45s.
