Race summary There were two incredible runs from our female runners on a windy day at Sittingbourne's well-established October event. Sarah May was only narrowly beaten in a sprint finish for the women's prize and, in an astonishing effort in her first ever ten miler, Rosie McDermott was third female in a time of 1:07:49. I believe that these are the first Harrier women to go under 70 minutes for 10 miles for exactly six years (Helen Paine running 1:09:57 at this event in 1997) with Sarah thus setting a record for the club since it was reconstituted. Unfortunately, however, those were our only two runners and we may well have taken the female team prize if we'd had another to complete the complement of three. Just ahead of Rosie was Dave Lightburn who showed that he is coming back to his best. Bob Davison built on his run at Boughton the previous week in his first 10 mile race for over a year. Luke Lightburn also did well to come 3rd in a time of 4:44 in the U16 event that involved two laps of the playing field on which the main race started and finished.
