About Canterbury Harriers

Canterbury Harriers running club was founded in 1993 and re-constituted in 1997. It aims to promote running for all standards and ages and for both sexes. The club currently has over 100 members.

When and Where We Meet
We meet each Tuesday and Thursday evening at 6:45 pm, with runs/sessions starting at 7:00 pm, at the King's School Recreation Centre, 1, St. Stephen's Road, Canterbury, Kent, CT2 7HU.

Training
Training is supervised by our qualified coaches, headed by Gerry Reilly who is a senior (UKA level 4) endurance coach. There is usually a variety of activities from hard hill sessions to leisurely long runs which in the summer are often in the picturesque countryside nearby.

Team Events and Trips Abroad
Members from the club compete in many different road, track and cross-country events both in Kent and abroad, including trips by the club to Holland and Le Touquet and Rheims in France. We enter teams for various relay events, including the East Kent Road Relay Series, and we also compete in the Kent Fitness Cross Country League.

Races and Social Events
On the May Bank Holiday we host the ever popular Whitstable 10K race. We formerly organised both the Oyster Run and the Red Lion 10K. We also assist with the staging of other local events, such as the Race for Life at Herne Bay. Additionally, we arrange social events, such as the Club Presentation Evening and pub runs, and all our activities can be seen on the forthcoming events and past event reports pages.

These events are coordinated by our management committee, all of whom are active runners.
