Kent Fitness Cross-Country League

From October through to February, Canterbury Harriers compete in the enjoyable Kent Fitness League cross-country series for non-elite athletes (sub-34 10K men and sub-38 10K women are barred). We also stage one of the races in the league at Blean Woods.

2023-2024 Rule Change - Five Female Runners Now Required

From the start of the 2023-24 season five female runners will now be required to score for each team. As before there must be three veterans (one 35+, one 45+ and one 55+) but now there must be two others rather than just one. The two others may be senior women or they may be vets.

2023-24 Fixture List

The provisional list of fixtures for the 2023-24 Kent Fitness League season are below. Those should be finalised closer to the league start in the autumn. Please note that the race at Knole Park will be at 9am rather than the usual 11am.

Champions 2022-2023

The 2022-2023 KFL season has now concluded with the final race at Allhallows on 12th February. Congratulations to all the prize winners listed.

Cross Country Running Through Woodlands

When running through woodlands there is always a risk of being bitten by ticks etc. and therefore insect repellent containing DEET is a good idea.

Unfortunately if the tick is infected with Lyme disease then it can be passed on to runners.

If after having been on a run you notice a red circular rash around a bite mark (examples here) you may want to get it checked out sooner rather than later.

New Team Scoring for the 2021-2022 Season

For the 2021-2022 KFL season there will be a change to the scoring runner requirements. There will still be 8 male scorers and 4 female scorers but there will be changes to the age categories required. For men there will be:

Important Notice for People Wishing to be Guest Runners

This is an inter-club competition and is now only open to members of our 18 affiliated clubs. While we have allowed "guest runners" to take part in the past, the organising committee has now reviewed that decision. In view of increasing numbers participating and also Health and Safety concerns, we regret that we can no longer accept any non-affiliated runners in any of the races for this season.
