The Essex 20 is held every year in March and is an ideal race to run in the build up to the Marathon season. However, it’s not just a training run as it has a long history.
The venue for the event in 2022 is at Debden Airfield. This disused airfield has a fast, flat, tarmac course with no sharp corners.
The race is part of the Essex Road Running Championships with county medals awarded to the first 3 affiliated runners in male and female individual age categories as well as teams.
Essex Athletics Association aims to provide a quality event at the best value to runners, so this means there will be no finishing medals (apart from the County prize medals) or t-shirts. This year, we’re offering you the option to plant a tree to commemorate your participation, instead of receiving our event medal/t shirt. Planting a tree is one of the best things you can do to fight climate change, as they remove carbon dioxide from the air as they grow.
