Sydney Marathon 2026… what a great excuse for a three week adventure across Australia!
We arrived in Sydney five days prior to the marathon on 30th August which I was very relieved about due to jet lag & sitting for that length of time on the plane was quite a challenge in itself. It was also great to watch the set up for the marathon as we were staying close to the finish line.
The Expo was at the Olympic Park, which was also nice to visit.
Whilst in Sydney I couldn’t miss the opportunity of doing the Pirrama parkrun as a little leg loosener.
The route was around the quay & along the swan river, quite hectic as there was over 1000 runners but it was great fun.
Marathon morning: 3am alarm for a 6.30 start, weather was perfect in the morning around 15 degrees but climbed to 22C in the afternoon. Course was undulating which I loved, the downs were worse than the ups especially in the last few miles my quads were screaming at me.
The highlights were running over the Sydney Bridge & finishing at the Opera House, it was a magical moment that I won’t forget!
I would also love to tell you all about the rest of my holiday but I’m sure you have more important things to be doing ?
