Congratulations to Peter Hogben who headed a 545-strong field at Oxleas Wood in the second Kent Fitness League race of 2023-24. This was Peter’s fifth race win in the league. Simon Jones (the club’s first V40 scorer) also finished in the top ten and the club finished seventh in the men’s team result. The other male scorers were Peter Whall, Matt Slark, Roddy McLachlan (second V40), Greg Norman (V60), Colin Kent (first V50) and Adam Cowper-Smith (second V50). Henry Cox, Matt Newman and Aron Hancock finished ahead of the club’s last scorer but did not score themselves. The men’s team are sixth in the men’s team standings after two events.

Unfortunately the club’s women’s team could not repeat their victory at Swanley Park a week ago, finishing second behind Sevenoaks AC. Emily Collins put in another great effort finishing fourth woman. Our other female scorers were Joanne Norrington (V35), Barbara Grogan (V45), Barbara Wenman (V55) and Deb Parris. The result leaves the club still first in the women’s team standings, a single point ahead of Sevenoaks.

In the combined team result Canterbury Harriers finished sixth and the club now lies fifth in the combined team standings.

Very well done to Mark Wenman who completed his 100th KFL race at Oxleas Wood. At the other end of the KFL experience scale, Paul Pollard and Sara Sinnerton both made fine league debuts for the club.
